Elvira: What was the highest wave you have ever surfed?
Richie: 50 feet [15.240 metres]. Sorry, I am really hot because I have been carrying boxes?
Elvira: Where?
Richie: Up at Mullach More Head, about 5 miles [8 km] from here.

Video 2

Maria: When and why did you decide to become a surfer?
Richie: I grew up in a family of surfers so I didn't really decide to ... when I was this size, I just started surfing, the same way as I played soccer, rugby, football...Surfing  was just in my family. I can't  even remember learning to surf, I surfed when I was really very small.

Video 3

Angel: What is your best position in the world ranking?
Richie: Emm..I'll write it for you. In 2011 this was my last year of competing ...
I finished 6th in Europe, and 3rd in the big waves, and number 1 in Ireland again...right....
and then in 1996 i finished 28th in the world. All right... there, you can put it all down.
Nerea: What is the best place in the world to surf?
Richie: You know, I like Ireland but Hawaii is nice too. California is good. Spain is good. Portugal is good. I like the Caribbean as well.
Tracy: Elvira....quick!
Richie: You know... this is perfect. Ask away.

Video 4

Angel: Have you ever had a near-death experience?
Richie: Near death? A few times. But that's only because I go out in the really big waves so... in about 2009 I nearly drowned, once a big wave... my friend saved me... so close. But that's only in the big waves...so it shouldn't scare...any sort of normal surfing you are fine. Small waves are fine
Maria: How do you feel when you are on the top of a big wave?
Richie: It's very scary but it's very exciting.
Nerea: Can you tell us about your first competition?
Richie: My first competition?I think I was aged 13. I came first in  the juniors, under 15s. In 1987 actually July 1987. Anything else?

Video 5

Tracy: Wow. Thank you, Stickers!!
Elvira: Are you married?
Richie: What? Am I married? Look at my little daughter [...shows us his phone...].
Elvira: Your wife is a surfer?
Richie: A little bit. Not much.
Elvira: And your daughter?
Richie: She is too... bambino!!

THE END!!

After that, we went to see what happened and we saw the man who had helped us with the blog on the floor with a lot of BLOOD on his face and his hand.He had dislocated his shoulder and his eyebrow was bleeding. We wanted to call  the ambulance but he said that it didn't matter. We poured water on his body.He was very pale.  He couldn't move. The manager cleaned his wound and he change because he was wearing his wetsuit. In the end, he is going to the hospital to get an x-ray. This experience was very interesting but also disgusting because of the blood.

Manager
Jo works at the hostel all day.  She is the manager there. We talked to Jo to learn more about what she does.

Nerea: What is your name?
Jo: My name is Jo
Nerea: Where are you from?
Jo: I have lived in Ireland for 13 years but I am from England near Liverpool. Have you heard of Liverpool?
Angel: Yes, like the football team!!!
Nerea: How long have you been working in the hostel?
Jo: since March, this year, but I worked here many years ago, so it’s like coming back home.
Maria:  Do you like Bundoran?
Jo: I love Bundoran, yeah, very nice.
Elvira:  What is the most difficult thing about working here?
Jo: Difficult? Well, I have to look after the bookings so I have to make sure everybody has a room so I have to … on the computer … do a lot of administration.
Ángel: Do you like living here?
Jo: Yes, very nice. I love the sea, the mountains, yeah, I love the country-side.
Maria: What exactly do you do here?
Jo: Well, I am the manager the hostel so basically I look after the bookings, book people in who are coming to stay, also the day to day running of the building so I have to make sure everything is clean, when the cleaning people come in have to tell them which rooms they have to clean, make sure everybody has enough food for breakfast. An just look after the building, really.
Tracy: Any more questions?
All: No
All: Thank you. Bye, bye.

A hostel manager has a tough job because she has to do many difficult things but if you love organising people you might think about becoming a manager, too.

THE LIBRARY

On Tuesday we went to the library. We spoke to 3 nice women. We discovered the following information about Bundoran´s history:
Bundoran was settled in 1653. It was originally 2 villages- The East End (where the Catholics live) and in West End (where the protestants live).

An interesting thing that we learnt is the meaning of the irish flag: the green part represents the Catholic people, the orange part represent the Protestant people and the white in the middle is the union between the two.
Bundoran means: “the foot of the water”
The first inhabitants were fishermen and farmers.
